Spa Retreat Inspirations

Posted: April 2nd, 2009 | Author: Katie | Filed under: Simple Solutions |

If there is one place in the world that relaxes and rejuvinates me the most– it would be Palm Springs, California. Every year my family goes on our annual Spring Break trip to Palm Springs and last week was that heavenly time. Within the fun filled week, my absolute favorite experience is when my mom and I take our day to the spa.

The Spa at The Desert Springs Marriott

The experience takes over your senses from the moment you walk through the front doors. First the fresh and clean smell engulfs your whole body, then you hear the sound of running water and soft music, the feel of the soft robes and slippers that you are handed, and then finally you are seated and enjoying this view:

I am at peace every time.

I would have more pictures - but this being the most peaceful place - I really didn’t think it would be appropriate for me to be snapping pictures. I had to even sneak this one in with my phone - pretending that I was turning it off!
There were two other things on the trip that I really fell in love with, and although they would not work for my current home, I can always dream…

A Hammock

Maybe it was how it rested up on the top of the little hill overlooking the lake - but I could imagine myself sitting on it for hours. So peaceful, so beautiful.

I have always been into admiring bathrooms.

It seems like a ritual wherever I go. Pretty funny, but I love a good bathroom. This one was found in the lobby of on of the hotels and I thought it was such a neat idea for a guest bathroom. You would have to buy a lot of washcloths, but I loved the feeling of a fresh cloth on my hands and my 3 year old loved throwing them in the basket. “Score!”

I have a thing about bathrooms too. I love getting ideas from places like hotels because their bathrooms have to be nice! The washcloth idea is great, and I know you can find them pretty inexpensively at Sam’s. Or get a smaller basket so you need fewer of them.

Palm Springs looks heavenly. I’ve never been, but I did visit the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel when I was in high school and it was breathtaking. Oh, I need a vacation!

We used to rent one of those little vacation houses every year in PS with the mini pool in the back, but this looks beautiful too!

I love white washcloths! It’s what I use every night to wash my face and I probably should have that many with the way I go through them. The bathroom is lovely.
