Welcome to this Post Called:

What Would You Do?

{or WWYD for short}

So here I am again, asking for your advice. I had such a great response to my drape dilemma and I appreciate all your honest and gut reaction opinions. Nester even has it as one of her 31 Days to a Better Dressed Nest - Day 7 - ask advice. It’s nice to get a fresh view sometimes and what better way through you all.

Are you ready? Here is the space:

See, I painted my bathroom, added some new accessories and just wasn’t feeling it. I found this plaque at Hobby Lobby and of course, wall hangings were on sale at 50% off.  This plaque was drawn to me because I knew it would be the right demensions and help to fill the space above my hooks. What you are also missing is a large bulletin board to the right of the sink that is also cream with black fabric on the inside - can you see it through the mirror?  I think that plays a key role in my balancing problems.

Although, when I got it home and hung it, there was a problem. Hopefully you see it. The black and white clash and just don’t help the wall to balance with the mirror frame and the sign above.

So here are my choices: (and I have issues with both - see the notes below)
1. Black - Leave the plaque black and paint the hooks black

2. Cream - Leave the hooks cream and paint the plaque cream.

I just didn’t want to jump into anything so I did what I could to adjust the colors with things around the house to give me similiar looks. Hopefully these pictures will help you make your decision.

1. Plaque black and Hooks Black that I covered with black socks (it’s all I could think of…)

(* For this option, I am worried about the balance in the room being really heavy on black on that side since the other accessories in the space are cream.)

2. Hooks cream and plaque cream - I just replaced the plaque with another wall hanging I had to give it a balanced look.

(*For this option, I don’t like how the cream of the wall hangings and the white on the countertop clash.)

So, here you go ladies! WWYD?
1. Both black
2. Both cream

…or be like my husband and go with #3 - leave them alone!

The polls are open!!

BLACK….all the way. I don’t like the cream with the white curtain. I think it won’t be too much black either.

Black. I think that would look the best.

Black… I’m not crazy about the cream & the white together.

I think I would try ‘antiquing’ the cream hooks with black paint by drybrushing some black onto the raised parts of the hooks. That way everything’s not a flat black. If you don’t like it, than paint them all black! ;) Good luck, and show us pictures when you decide!

I would go black! You could even paint the frame on your bulletin board black to add more balance on that side of the room. Also I just noticed the little cupboard thingy above your toilet - paint that black too! :)

Definitely the black. I think that would look great!

How about both white? Then nothing clashes with the curtain or the countertop.

    Black Black Black Black!

Black… with cream/white towels hanging!! Best of both worlds!

To combine one of the above:

    “Antique” the hooks.

Then, I would hang one above and one below the plaque. See if you like it with:

    Antiqued cream
    Antiqued cream

If that’s not working for you, then all black but you do need some kind of interest there to break up all the black. I think the plaque going cream would be just too…I don’t know.

I hope that makes sense. :-0

I say either paint them black or put the black plaque in the middle of the smaller hooks. If you separate the two cream items , it will give more interest to the space and balance it out. That’s my two cents… :)

Oh I enjoy responding to these!! I’m going to be the one that ticks you off today though! I have been restless all day myself with multiple spaces in my home so I figured I give you some of my restlessness! I really like that black mirror. It’s very sleek and simple. And though I can’t see the board on the side that you’re talking about, I don’t think that matters to what I see in the picture. I think too much is going on right there on the left side of that mirror. Maybe it’s just because they are two different colors. But…my suggestion that you probably don’t want to hear is this…I think the hook should be the only thing there…and be moved up into the center of that wall (centered with the mirror) and that it should be black! That keeps that sleek and simple look that it seems like the mirror creates. The plaque is lovely though. Could it be placed above the cork board on the right? Or somewhere more open in the bathroom? Ok. NOT even what you were asking us to respond to. Sorry. That was just gut reaction! I’m sure anything you do will look just fine in real life! Black seems to be the consensus among us though! ;)

OH I see there are 2 hooks now! My thoughts still stand. I think they should be evenly placed alone on that wall. Ok…scurrying away now!
