Ballard Backroom Beauties

Posted: September 3rd, 2009 | Author: Katie | Filed under: Simple Solutions |

So if you are currently living near a Ballard Backroom store (that would be those of you living in Florida, Atlanta, and Ohio) I would just like to announce how extremely jealous I am of you. I think if I lived close to one I would be visiting the Backroom Store as often as I visit Hobby Lobby. Even if it would be just to walk around and talk to the nice salespeople. Heck, one sales lady was just standing by the door that they were using to bring in new items and just testing everything out. She would be my best friend.

We stayed for way longer than my husband wanted to, and WAY shorter than I wanted to.

See, in the stores that I love, your first walk through doesn’t really count. Anybody here with me? Then the second walk through you grab things that just even catch your eye. They are not keepers, but just maybes. The third walk through was when David was ready to go and so he starts telling me how much he likes certain things or gets overly helpful just to make the process go faster. Yes, I’m on to you!

So the bottom line is that I could have spent HOURS in the store and if you ever have a chance to go to one you REALLY should! I just loved looking at the sale prices, sitting on the furniture that I could only dream of buying, feeling all the fabrics, and imagining all the things that I could load into a uhaul.

But reality was, unless something BLEW me away, I was going to need to find some smaller items that could be all stored as a carry on item on the plane. So it made perfect sense why I HAD to buy one of their burlap totes.

Originally:$24.00     Backroom: $11.00

Then their linens were all on sale. Score -  since I was was looking for bedding anyways! But no such luck for my demensions until I spotted this infamous pattern:

Yes, it’s a pillow of course, but it also was in a chair slipcover for…wait for it…

Originally: $30.00       Backroom:  23.99   Sale: 60% off   Total: $12.00!!

I still am looking for a chair for it (and yes, Mindy, I WILL find it for under $20.00!) But won’t it look great in my office, or at the piano?

The pillow was $10.00 Sale: 30% off  so $7.00

I also got two more cream quilted pillows for $7.00 each. Here is one of them along with Lucy who loves it too.

My husband was shocked at how much I got and how little we spent and I was over the moon with the experience!

Road trip anyone?!!

My roommate was a buyer for Ballard years ago. I still have so much stuff that I bought at the backroom. My tastes are much more modern now, so it is time to get rid of a lot of it, but it was so nice to have scored such great deals. Love the pillows!

You did great and I think we should all plan a road trip and meet at this store. Oh the fun…oh the excitement….oh the money! Big smile.

Yes, I am jealous of those with just a regular Ballard’s location to shop at! I love that chair slipcover you found. I would so love that {not that I have a chair for it either} to use as an office chair. Great deals!

We actually have one that isn’t too far away (less than an hour), and I visit it whenever I’m anywhere in the area, but I never seem to find anything. Not sure why, because I order from the Ballard catalog all the time and love their stuff. Usually what I find is damaged or “as is” but STILL more money than I want to spend on it. You found some great things, though, at great prices! Maybe I need to head back over there and give it another try… :-)

Isn’t that the best when you score some incredible deals? I get such a rush when that happens! Awesome stuff!

Wow you had some great finds. I live near the two stores in Atlanta and have found things off and on through the years. Overall most visits I find nothing. The items are usually damaged, sometimes majorly and they still have a big price on them. Just when I get really frustrated with them I go back and they have shelves in perfect condition for $20. I can’t quit figure it out.
