In the midst of trying to find the perfect light fixture/pendant/chandelier for the kitchen, I visited Crate and Barrel’s site and found this beauty.
Then I read this review:
“This lamp is everything that I was looking for. It is classic, simple, well made and beautiful!”
She had me at “Classic.”
Another 5 star review read:
“The Eclipse pendant light is more beautiful than was apparent to me in the online photo. Although is looks a little dark, it’s not. It give plenty of light, despite the color of the outer shade, which is sheer. I’s very well made — the weighted, screw-on bottom plate ensures that it hangs straight. It is just so classy!“
Again, “Classy.” Love it!
But if you read my post before, I am a “see it in person” person so not being able to see it /touch it, before buying it really stresses me out but it might just have to be.
Meanwhile our kitchen ceiling keeps getting smoother and smoother!

The hunt for a light fixture to replace our chandelier in the kitchen is on…
So far here are some options:
1. I like the clean and classic look of this:
2. But I like the intricacy in this one:
3. So ready for the perfect compromise??!!
Now here is the reality. It’s too tall for the space. Sad. Sad.
4. But David always has a back up plan. He didn’t care for that one as much as I did. He liked this one:
Still a compromise? Yes. But I was going for something different than a traditional chandelier. I also have a thing about ordering something like this online. I’m a “see it in person” person. So, I might have to just keep this one as my inspiration photo and keep on lookin’!

The word “labor” was taken literally around here this Labor Day weekend. We decided we had had enough of our soffit which lowered part of our ceiling to the height of our kitchen cabinets. It was time to go.
So this is what it looked like in the morning:
…and in the evening!
Now the ceiling is all one height with tons of light!!
My husband and his brother worked so hard and now we get to do the fun stuff, like picking out a new light fixture. Although with my indecisiveness, this will be no easy task. I’ll show you the new progress and some light fixture ideas soon!
